WASHINGTON, D.C. – Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) Managing Director Heather Reams issued the following statement on the introduction of H.R. 7196, the Energy Sector Innovation Credit Act of 2018.

“New and innovative energy technologies play a major role in growing our economy, maintaining U.S. global leadership and competitiveness, and expanding safe, reliable, and affordable energy for families across America. Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions encourages support for this forward-looking legislation that would provide investment and production tax credits to facilitate the expansion of emerging energy technologies, improve energy efficiency, and move tax policy away from picking winners and losers in the clean energy space. We applaud Representative Tom Reed and cosponsors Representatives Darin LaHood and Erik Paulsen for their leadership to encourage American ingenuity and entrepreneurship that can allow cutting-edge technologies to break into the market, and look forward to working with clean energy champions in Congress to see this bill become law,” said Reams.

Rep. Tom Reed (NY-23), recently named a 2018 CRES Clean Energy Champion, introduced H.R. 7196 on Thursday. The bill would amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide investment and production tax credits for emerging energy technologies.
