SEPTEMBER 12, 2018 — Today, Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) formally endorsed Mitt Romney for U.S. Senate and Congresswoman Mia Love’s re-election bid for U.S. House in Utah.

“In a tough political year, the Republican candidates who will be successful on Election Day are those who want to solve the big challenges facing our country. Voters are demanding action from their leaders on a wide range of divergent issues, and very few have clear-cut solutions. However, when it comes to growing our economy, enhancing our energy security, and preserving our climate, voters and candidates are embracing the promise of clean energy. Today, CRES proudly endorses Mitt Romney and Rep. Mia Love, candidates who have proven track records of leadership and support for the clean energy future Americans want and our economy demands,” said CRES Executive Director James Dozier.

“I am proud to receive an endorsement from Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions. In Utah, advanced energy technologies and industries help to grow a dynamic economy in our state that spurs job creation. These cleaner forms of energy play an important role in preserving the quality of our environment, climate, and public lands for future generations. As I seek reelection, I will continue to fight for bipartisan policies that foster energy innovation, job creation and economic growth for all Utahans,” said Rep. Mia Love.

Rep. Love’s record on clean energy includes:

  • Joined colleagues in the Climate Solutions Caucus to introduce H. Res. 825, which recognizes the impact of climate change on outdoor recreation.
  • Supported the Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2017, a bill that invests in renewable energy technology, building on existing resources to strengthen America’s energy independence and supporting advances in energy efficiency and emissions reductions.
  • Voted no on an amendment which would have eliminated funding for the ARPA-E program in the FY18 Energy and Water Appropriations bill.
  • Co-sponsored Res.195, which expressed the commitment of the House of Representatives to work constructively on creating and supporting economically viable and broadly supported solutions to measured changes in global and regional climates.
